Boscobel Presents Ascend Yoga

July 27th, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Garrison, NY – July 2020) – Boscobel House and Gardens and Ascend Studio are proud to announce their collaboration on an in-person, weekend yoga program.

Through September 13, Ascend will offer three yoga classes each weekend on Boscobel’s stunning West Meadow overlooking the Hudson River. Each class is guided expertly by one of Ascend’s masterful teachers.

As Boscobel Executive Director and Curator Jennifer Carlquist, says, “Our visitors have told us time and time again something that psychologists know well. Experiencing profound beauty buoys one’s sense of well-being and connectedness with each other. We all need that now, and I’m happy to be joining forces with Ascend to offer yet another way to be immersed in Boscobel’s beauty.”

Melia Marzollo, founder of Ascend Center, adds, “We’ll celebrate community through the healing and strengthening power of breath, mindfulness, and movement, placing special emphasis on being present for ourselves despite the uncertainty of the past few months. What a privilege to celebrate the natural world and care for our minds and bodies, practicing together in the same stunning outdoor space.”

While maintaining safe, physical distance, class participants can begin to rediscover the joy of community. Classes are BYO mask, mat, and water. Masks, social distancing, and pre-registration are required. In case of rain, class will run online.

Each class has a different teacher and emphasis:

Fridays from 6:00-7:15pm | Yoga with Julian Paik
Julian Paik is a certified meditation teacher and a registered yoga teacher since 2003. His classes do not embody one particular style of yoga, but rather a combination of all of his influences over the years, which include Ashtanga, Iyengar, Gentle, and Yin. He teaches a concentrated and potent practice that focuses on strength, stability and preparing the student for deep meditation.

Saturdays from 9:30-10:45am | Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Vanessa Alfano
Vanessa teaches between NYC & The Hudson Valley. Her breath-centered Vinyasa classes focus on mindful movement and help build awareness and strengthen our internal connections. Vanessa always invites you to “practice and move for you,” offering modifications to encourage and accommodate all students.

Sunday from 9:30-10:45am | Vinyasa Flow Yoga with Amanda Amadei
Amanda Amadei (E-RYT 500) is the Yoga Director for Ascend Center in Cold Spring, NY, and has been teaching vinyasa classes and private clients in the Hudson Valley since 2013. After a focused warm up, you’ll move through a sequence of steady, consistent postures to strengthen and balance your entire body. Your open air practice concludes with a centering relaxation.

Tickets are available at boscobel.org or ascendcenter.com.
