Albany, New York, was a center for sculptural picture and mirror frames such as this one. The eagle holds cascading chains, a reference to the ancient Roman Republic. The pair of cornucopia symbolize a bountiful harvest, suggesting this mirror was intended to hang above the mantle of a stately dining room such as Boscobel’s.
