FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Garrison, NY – November 2018) – Boscobel’s reimagined Design Shop—which is open to anyone with or without a ticket to Boscobel—is the ideal, local holiday shopping destination.
The Design Shop carries handcrafted treasures that celebrate Hudson Valley design, history, and nature; commemorate a visit to Boscobel; and showcase the spirit of craftsmanship and sustainability in the region.
“We’ve put real heart and thought into carefully curated items at a range of price points,” says Design Shop Buyer Emilia Petrina. “The reimagined Design Shop is the place to explore and purchase some of the best of what the Hudson Valley has to offer.”
Now beautifully decorated for the holidays, the Boscobel Design Shop kicks off the official shopping season on Black Friday with complimentary light refreshments, select discounts, and a raffle for an elegant gift basket. A purchase of $50 or more from Friday, November 23 through the end of the month enters you into the raffle.

Hand-thrown Pottery from Hughsonville, NY – Polly Myhrum Pottery
The Design Shop carries Polly Myhrum’s blue-glazed platters, vases, and bowls with a beautiful white swirl design, including charming berry bowls with incorporated strainer feature and matching saucer. We also offer platters with a modern Mochaware pattern as well as beautiful and practical mugs with a coppery lustre finish. All are microwave and dishwasher safe. Polly Myhrum creates timeless, high quality pieces at affordable prices.
Natural Body Care from Upstate New York – On Hand Lotions
Hayna Humphries-Weems and her husband Benjamin launched On Hand Lotions from their home kitchen in early 2014. Hayna and a tightly-knit team continue to carefully handcraft everything in small batches in Naples, NY. The Design Shop carries soap, lip balm, body scrub, baby balm, beard balm, and bug repellent. All items are free of synthetic flavors, fragrance oils, sweeteners, dyes, and emulsifiers.
Hand-blown glass from Beacon, NY – Malfatti Glass (also know as Ten Willow Studio)
Malfatti is the studio of Daniel Spitzer, glassblower and former Dale Chihuly crew member, and Jill Reynolds, an award-winning visual artist known for her innovative use of flameworked glass. Boscobel carries their heat resistant and dishwasher safe prosecco, wine, and gelato glasses featured in The New York Times, Martha Stewart Living, and Chronogram.
Local, Packaged Food and Preserved Goods from Salt Point, NY – Hummingbird Ranch
Hummingbird Ranch was founded nearly twenty years ago, when owners Debby and Richard Focht started making maple syrup on their property just south of Rhinebeck. Soon after, they began raising bees and making honey as well as other goods packaged in unique glass containers. The Design Shop is pleased to stock their wildflower honey, maple syrup, and balsamic vinegar.
Hand-carved cutting boards from Kingston, NY – Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co.
Owner Joshua Vogel created Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. as a way to explore small-scale product design and manufacturing, and to reconnect himself with the practice and idea of handmade goods. All of Blackcreek’s products are hand-made in their Kingston, NY studio. The Design Shop carries their hand-carved maple cutting boards as well as food-safe oil to preserve the boards and maintain a beautiful patina.
Hand-Sculpted Floral Soaps – The Qi-Garden
These beautifully-scented, floral blossom soaps closely resemble real magnolia flowers, mums, and zinnias, flowers that thrive in New York. Each ivory- and cream-colored sculpture is made in North Carolina by Lucia Shaw from small, two-pound batches of shea butter soap and packaged in an organza sachet bag.
